Nordic Impact Night Connected New York Investors with the Nordics’ Leading Impact Start-Ups

On December 2nd 2024, Nordic Impact Night in New York brought together investors and promising impact-driven Nordic companies to connect and showcase sustainability solutions.

Organised by Infine’s multi-talented advisor Tero Kuittinen and hosted by Borenius New York, the event spotlighted game-changing innovations and facilitated discussions on start-ups’ roles in shaping a sustainable future.

The meeting place for Nordic sustainability Innovation & investors

Infine was proud to join the event alongside companies Liquid Sun and Vensum Power. For Infine’s CEO & Founder Tiina Saukko, the night presented a unique opportunity to connect with the East Coast’s impact-driven investors.
Discussions during the evening also touched upon the current global situation.

“In the United States, as political landscapes shift, corporate sustainability efforts will be demotivated from the federal level,” said Tiina Saukko.

“However, it seems like certain influential regions, like New York and California, will continue to lead on sustainability, in addressing the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, and actions to keep our planet habitable.”

The atmosphere of division in the U.S. is expected to intensify, not only among citizens but also within the corporate world. “Some companies are eager to advance sustainability efforts for the good of our planet, while others may exploit loosened legislation for their own gain, leaning toward practices that undermine our collective future. This highlights the increasingly critical role that legislation and governments will play in shaping the future of humanity,” Tiina noted.

Creating Successful Connections for Future Greater Impact

Events like Nordic Impact Night are an important bridge between startups and impact investors.

“It was rewarding to see no fewer than 15 VC funds and angel investors show up at the event, particularly several high level New York Angels”, Tero Kuittinen said. “One month after the night, 12 investment discussions were ongoing for three of the headlining growth companies. These talks have led to one investment discussion in Switzerland and another in California. Hopefully, we will have the next Nordic Impact Night in May/June frame – and by then, at least two of the three headliners will have announcements to make about their US expansions.”

During the trip, Infine also welcomed Jyrki Rehumäki as a new advisor. His expertise will further strengthen Infine’s mission to revolutionise how fast moving consumer goods -businesses approach sustainability management.

During the week-long stay in Manhattan, Tiina also had the privilege of meeting several venture capitalists and prominent American brands, engaging in fruitful discussions about potential collaborations. Both investors and customers recognised Infine Insight as a ready-to-market SaaS, even stronger than their counterparts in Europe.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this evening a success, especially Borenius New York for hosting and championing Nordic innovation.
