Infine Insight delivers unparalleled sustainability insights for the food industry by harnessing data from trusted, publicly available third-party sources.
Our sustainability analysis is rooted in scientific understanding and the framework employed by the Sustainability Panel for assessing product sustainability. Our service’s rules for analyses are documented and fully transparent, ensuring that we always know the reasons and facts leading to the given conclusions.
The panel members are leading experts in sustainable business and production in Finland. By modelling their analyses, we have created an automation based on a broad scientific understanding of environmental, social, and economic responsibility. This is grounded in a framework of relative sustainability, life-cycle thinking, stakeholder theory, and socio-ecological systems, providing a comprehensive and systematic approach to business sustainability.

A product’s or company’s sustainability can never be limited to just one factor, like CO₂ emissions or the use of recycled materials. Infine Insight recognises that sustainability is a complex, systemic issue by evaluating product sustainability across seven comprehensive dimensions.
Our analysis is grounded in the concept of relative sustainability. We believe in the consumer’s freedom to purchase what they need and desire while empowering them to make sustainable choices within specific categories. This means our sustainability evaluation of a particular product is conducted relative to the current level of sustainability within the same product category.
From a consumer’s perspective, relative sustainability means that among the available options, the most sustainable choice is the product or service that meets a particular need in the most environmentally and socially responsible way.
Our sustainability analysis is grounded in numerous up-to-date third-party databases, covering multiple aspects of sustainability, from workers’ rights to land use. These sources include globally respected organisations such as the World Bank, Transparency International, International Trade Union Confederation, WWF, Denmark’s green think tank CONCITO‘s The Big Climate Database, UNICEF, EU & government publications, as well as NGO research, industry studies, trusted certifications and peer-reviewed articles.
The primary product data for our sustainability analysis comes from the industry-standard GS1 product database.
Each data point in our sustainability analysis is traceable to its original dataset and scientific rationale, making it suitable for supporting CSRD reporting or Green Claims-compliant marketing.
Data maturity refers to how comprehensively the available data aligns with the total amount of product data that Infine Insight uses to analyse product sustainability. For example, the GS1 Synkka database can offer approximately 85% data maturity, but when combined with different sources, data maturity can be even higher.
The higher the maturity level, the more accurately we can assess the actual sustainability features of products. If data is missing, Infine Insight evaluates whether the missing information is critical or non-critical.
