Infine, a Nordic sustainability startup, is approaching the close of its pre-seed funding round, with €825,000 secured toward a €1 million goal. This funding will enable the finalisation of food sector development, while the upcoming seed round will allow Infine to expand its focus to textiles and other FMCG sectors beyond food.
New Academic Collaboration for Exploring the Role of Sustainability in Business
Infine has been pioneering sustainability technology, developing the first MVPs for business sustainability management and piloting the solutions with companies such as Nestlé, Sodexo, and R-kioski/Reitan Convenience. Now entering the commercial phase, the solution is already driving value for clients, although further product development is needed to achieve automated compliance with the rapidly changing EU regulatory environment, some of which impose sanctions of up to 5% of corporate turnover.
Infine is enhancing its software’s ability to process and analyse global volumes and sources of data while improving the precision of sustainability insights. These advancements aim to deliver even greater value to clients by aligning seamlessly with evolving industry standards. Further research will explore innovative methods to automate analysis processes effectively.
As part of its commitment to strengthening academic collaboration, Infine is expanding its research partnerships within the scientific community. Building on its work with the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE) in the GS1-led Food Data Finland project and ongoing advice from the Sustainability Panel, Infine is preparing for a new research collaboration with Loughborough University. The study, led by Professor Mikko Koria and Dr Talia Hussain, will explore the role of sustainability in management, value creation, and supply chain risk management for FMCG companies.
“Our solution, Infine Insight, empowers companies to understand their business’ sustainability: risks, impacts, and possibilities of their product portfolio, enabling them to future-proof their operations,” says CEO and founder Tiina Saukko. “Now, we can automatically onboard our customers based on public product data from GS1 databases. With GS1 operating in 180 countries, the reach of our solution is immediately global. By combining third-party sustainability data with our own commissioned research, we provide science-based and time-saving ways to manage sustainability.”
